Dialectical Behavior
Therapy
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a valued tool in
the treatment of people who experience intense emotions,
urges to engage in impulsive behaviors, or chronic problems
with interpersonal relationships. Group members will learn
how to live more fully in the present moment while focusing
less on painful experiences from the past or frightening
possibilities of the future. They will also learn how to
cope with painful events, regulate emotions without behaving
in destructive ways, and resolve interpersonal problems
effectively. Separate groups are available for adolescents
and adults, and the groups are held in the evening. Please
contact Kim Bolen, MA, LPA for more information or to set
up a consultation to join the group.
Social Skills Groups
for Autistic Spectrum
Social skills training for children with high functioning
autistic spectrum disorders teaches social skills via social
stories, role plays, psych-education and interactive group
activities. The goal of the group is to teach the children
the social and communication skills that they need to interact
with peers more appropriately. The next group will be beginning
this summer. For more information, please contact Mary M.
Godin, MA, LPA, LPC.
